About Misako
Born, raised and educated in Tokyo, Japan, Misako worked as an editor before come to the UK in 2003. In the UK, she worked at the Japanese School in Derbyshire for 20 years, initially as a teacher and for the final 8 years as head teacher. Misako began teaching Japanese as a foreign language to the UK citizens in 2007. As a calligrapher Misako was influenced by her mother who attained the rank of "master" in the 1970s. Misako started calligraphy at the age of 6 and became a first "dan"at the age of 12. She resumed her studies in 2007 in the UK achieving the highest level (eight "dan") in 2023.
Misako is an associate instructor in Japanese calligraphy, Certified teacher of Japanese as a foreign language, holds a BA in English and American literature.
