Do you remember the joy of being read to as a child, or the fun of putting on your best Gruffalo voice and entering a magical new world of words and make believe? 

To celebrate the National Literacy Trust's National Year of Reading 2026 we are running a free, guided read-aloud session for adults where you can explore new realms of literature in a safe and welcoming space.

The session will be led by Jessica Johnson from Hammond House, a National Year of Reading Champion who is passionate about spreading the joy of reading across North East Lincolnshire and beyond. Within her work as a freelance journalist, Jessica has researched and written about the benefits of reading aloud which can act as a form of mindfulness, lowering stress levels and boosting wellbeing and confidence.
