ChangeMakers

People and Organisations making a difference in their communities.

Every community is shaped by people who care, take action and make a difference.

Our ChangeMakers series shines a light on the inspiring people, groups and organisations helping to make our community a better place, celebrating their stories, achievements and the positive impact they’re having every day.

ChangeMaker: People - Diego

We kicked off the brand new Change Makers series by meeting the inspiring Diego Brown (11), who volunteers his time to keep his local beach in Cleethorpes free of litter - his little brothers Hugo and Romeo are definitely following in his footsteps!

ChangeMaker: People - Archie & Alfie

Another inspiring day of filming for our ChangeMakers series took us to The Trin, a groundbreaking community, sports and education hub in Cleethorpes, bringing people together through a wide range of classes, programmes and social activities for all ages.

We were privileged to meet Archie and Alfie, who shared their incredible stories of being part of The Trin and the profound impact it has had on their lives.

Describing The Trin as a family, they spoke openly about the sense of belonging, support and opportunity it provides, and how being part of the community has helped them grow and transform their lives.

ChangeMaker: People - Sue Campbell

Ted, Paul and Jessie from the Hammond House team visited a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award session as part of our ChangeMakers series, meeting participants and hearing about their experiences of volunteering – a pivotal part of the DofE Silver Award.

From volunteering in charity shops to supporting dance schools, tennis centres, gymnastics halls and hospital radio, these young people are giving their time to make a difference in their communities while gaining valuable skills and experiences along the way.

Their volunteering placements are helping them build confidence, develop new abilities and gain experience in different working environments – all of which can provide a valuable boost to their CVs and future opportunities.

Behind it all is the care, guidance and expertise of DofE Leader Sue Campbell and her dedicated team, who support participants throughout their DofE journey and help them make the most of the opportunities available to them.

It was inspiring to hear their stories and see first-hand how the DofE is helping young people grow, contribute and become ChangeMakers in their own communities.

ChangeMaker: People - Harry, Oliver & Jacob

It was a real pleasure to support Harry, Oliver and Jacob, three enterprising and talented local schoolboys, as they brought their Beach Safety Film project to life.

Through Hammond House Productions, we were delighted to help the boys create their film as part of the Humberside Police North Lincolnshire Lifestyle26 Challenge, while also raising money for RNLI Cleethorpes.

The project gave the boys an opportunity to take their ideas from the initial concept through to filming and production, while shining a light on the importance of staying safe at the coast. Their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to the project were fantastic to see, and it was wonderful to help them develop their skills while working towards a cause that is so important to our local coastal community.

ChangeMaker: Group - The Green Influencers

Green Influencers is a youth-led environmental programme helping children and young people across Grimsby and North East Lincolnshire connect with nature, learn about the environment and take positive action in their communities.

Led locally by VANEL, the programme gives young people the opportunity to become environmental changemakers, turning their ideas into practical projects that can make a real difference to the places where they live, learn and grow.

From gardening and growing plants to creating wildlife-friendly spaces, exploring recycling, learning about biodiversity and taking part in creative environmental projects, Green Influencers makes looking after our environment something young people can actively get involved in.
